Missouri Compromise (36° 30')
The compromise was the first thing that defined where slavery can reside within the states. Stakes below the parallel were allowed to practive slavery while those on north of the line were not allowed to pratice. Slavery was the secondary cause while keeping the balance of states being the primary with the newly added states.
Nat Turner
The slave rebellion lead by turner was a group of slaves that killed around 50 white people. This is one of the more noticeable slave revolts in that not only did it strike fear into slave owners but also to whites in general. The rebellion was evntually supressed and Turner was hung.
The compromise of 1850
The north received California (free), had no slave trading in Washington DC, and Texas looses boundary. As for the south they had no slave restriction in Utah or New Mexico. The Fugitive slave law was passed.
Uncle Tom's cabin
A book written by an abolitionist that tells a story about the reality of slaves as well as how "Christian Love" can over come the destructive nature of slavery the book featured stereotypes of African Americans.
