1901: Theodore Roosevelt becomes President. On September 14, 1901, Roosevelt becomes president after William McKinley is assassinated.
1902: The Coal Strike begins. On May 21, 1902, coal miners begin to strike against their bosses for a multitude of reasons. The workers were underpaid and worked in awful conditions.
1906: The Pure Food and Drug Act is passed. During Roosevelt's presidency, he made it his personal mission to fix the food industry for consumers and workers. The Pure Food and Drug Act changed working conditions to keep workers healthy and keep food clean for public consumption.
1909: William Howard Taft becomes President.
