Fate of King Louis Debated (5 ore 6 min, 14 gen 1793 anni – 16 ore 18 min, 17 gen 1793 anni)
Descrizione:
The fate of King Louis (whether he was to be killed or not) was debated in the Legislative Assembly over a period of four days. Groups like the Girondists wanted him to be spared whilst the more radical Jacobins wished to see him killed. Amongst them, Robespierre and Danton were proponents of the death penalty, arguing that he had repeatedly attempted to stop the revolution and suppress the people of France and thus deserved death.
