First Synthetic Transplant

In June of 2011, the world’s first synthetic organ transplant happened in Sweden. This happened when a 36 year old man needed a trachea transplant to get rid of his tracheal cancer. They grew the new trachea over the span of two days by using his own healthy tracheal cells and a 3-D scan molder to make sure that there was no chance of rejection of his new trachea.
