The policy was put in place in 1986. It placed emphasis on the participation of women and girls in sport. It also focused on improving their access to the quantity and quality of sport. This policy helped make it easier for women to be able to compete equally in sport. They were able to compete in the same sports as men. the policy has ow been updated most recently in 2009.
