America did not join the league of nation in 1919 because many Americans did not want to involve themselves with European affairs and because it did not receive support from the Senate. For president Woodrow Wilson, the League of Nations offered the best chance of long-term peace and stability in Europe, but his senators did not agree. Thus demonstrating how the Presidential intentions with foreign policy differ from the actual foreign policy.
