Archbishop James Ussher(1581-1656): He calculated the age of the earth based on biblical works. According to his calculations, the earth was formed on October 22, 4004 B.C. This chronology is sometimes associated with young earth creationism, which holds that the Universe was created only a few millennia ago by God as described in the first two chapters of the biblical book of Genesis.
