Constantine's conversion and the split of the Church into the East and Western Churches. (24 août 61 – 1 janv. 1054)

Description:

312 - 1054AD

Emperor Constantine reigned from 306 - 337AD and was the ruler of the Roman Empire. Emperors were typically hostile or indifferent towards Christians.

In 312 AD, Constantine was said to have had a vision after when battling an enemy in the Battle of the Milvian Bridge. The vision assured him of a victory in the name of God.

At this point, Constantine converted to Christianity and it began to spread and become accepted in the Roman Empire.

Capital of the empire moved from Latin speaking Rome to Greek speaking Constantinople.

Roman Empire began to split into two halves (Eastern and Western) and the Church followed, splitting into two halves and two distinct expressions of Christianity began to emerge.
