Description:
After Forrest Gump left the war and was deemed fit to leave the military hospital he had received the Congressional Medal of Honor on September 28th, 1967. President Lyndon B. Johnson awarded him his medal for going above and beyond and saving many American soldiers’ lives. While being congratulated, Johnson asked Forrest where he was shot. Forrest told Johnson, “In the buttocks sir” and then proceeded to pull down his pants and show President Johnson his butt wound on national television. Three other soldiers also received medals of honor from President Johnson that day. (In real life, the medal of honor was given to Sgt. David Dolby.)
