Roaring 20s (1 janv. 1920 – 31 déc. 1929)
Description:
During this period, American culture was rapidly changing. Partially in response to this change and the changes in gender roles sponsored by the Progressive movement, many girls began to wear more revealing clothing, smoked in public, drank alcohol, and practiced greater sexual freedom than that of their parents. These girls were called Flappers, and they became more numerous as the 20s went on. (Effect: women practiced greater freedom from social norms for women than in previous generations) (Change: flappers challenged preexisting gender roles)
