Frederick Douglass (14 févr. 1818 – 20 févr. 1895)
Description:
Frederick Douglass was born a slave in Maryland but was able to escape to the North. During his life, he became an affluent writer, an eloquent orator, a statesman, and a well-respected citizen that abolitionists describe as living proof that slaves did have the intellectual capacity to be functioning American citizens, contrary to popular belief among Southern slaveholders and supporters. He wrote a number of different works that attacked slavery over the course of his life, and he was a supporter of the rights of all people, whether they be immigrants, blacks, women, etc.
