Description:

The United States goes to war with Britain as a result of its practice of impressment and disregard for the rights of American sailors, the economic sanctions it imposed on the U.S. to keep it from trading freely with France, and its continued military support of Natives who raided American settlement. The war would be costly and neither side necessarily won. However, it substantially boosted national pride, as the U.S. military had held its own against the world's most powerful military. (Change: attempting to uphold U.S. beliefs in inalienable rights on a global setting)
