Description:

This decade of economic prosperity following World War I saw a drastic change in women’s lifestyle and image in society. Women’s contributions to the war effort had secured for them more freedom than ever before and the ability to challenge social norms. The “flapper” of the ‘20s was representative of this change, with short hair, short dresses, and makeup. Women also became more comfortable making independent appearances in public, drinking alcohol, and partaking in the new consumer culture.
