Description:
Involvement in the Spanish-American War really helped the U.S. insert itself into international affairs. The war, in addition to rising sentiments about land acquisition, led the U.S. to successfully acquire Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Philippines. In addition to these land acquisitions, the U.S. also gained political influence in Cuba.
