(1804-1806) Lewis and Clark Expedition (24 mai 1804 – 24 sept. 1806)
Description:
The Lewis and Clark Expedition from May 1804 to September 1806, also known as the Corps of Discovery Expedition, was the first American expedition to reach the Pacific Ocean. The journey began in Pittsburgh made its way westward to reach the Pacific coast. The Corps of Discovery was a selected group of US Army volunteers, which was commanded by Captain Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. Along the way the men took notes of wildlife, drew maps of the land and met for the first time with tribes living in the West. (This expedition helped the United States learn what the land to the west contained and the maps allowed for the United States to create a legal claim on the Western Parts of the United States today.)
