Description:
- the French monarchy had been abolished- Jacobins under Robespierre entered a 'Reign of Virtue' in which the country was aligned with Rousseau's idea of 'the general will of the people'
(in actuality, the 'Commitee of thof Public Safety' suspected a lot of women of threatening the revolution, Marie Antoinettee, Olympes de Guges etc. were executed and there was general hostility towards women)
