Karlsbad Decrees (20 sept. 1819 – 2 avr. 1848)
Description:
The Karlsbad Decrees were introduced in the German Confederation as a response to increasing liberalism and desire for national unification. The decrees outlawed liberal political organizations, required policing of universities and newspapers, and established a committee of spies and informers to put down liberals and radical reformers.
