Rise of Sharia (7 janv. 767 – 30 janv. 855)

Description:

Sharia rises as a way to understand Islam through a series of rules and laws. Sharia is interpreted and based off of the Qu'ran and Hadith, and ruled upon by Ulama, or religious and legal scholars. Sharia becomes a judicial system in the Abbasid Empire, running separately from Abbasid leadership. Qadi are judges in religious courts at the time, and their rulings are known as fatwa. Sharia has four major Sunni schools of thought, as well as some Shi'i schools. The legal interpretation of something through Sharia is known as fiqh, and qiyas is the term for the reasoning used in decisions made by ulama. All four major Sunni law schools are seen as equally orthodox under a doctrine known as Ikhtilaf.
