Alma the Younger (13 nov 136 av. J.-C. – 31 juill. 73 av. J.-C.)

Description:

He was the son of Alma the Elder.

In his early life he was a renegade and actively sought to destroy the true faith. He was great friends with the four sons of Mosiah, and they all worked together against the church.
One must understand that they were not just rebel playboys. They were hardcore apostates that entered into campaigns against the church.

For a modern analogy, they were the ones operating anti-blogs and giving lectures against the doctrine and practices of the church. Through their work they enticed many of their generation away from the church.

Alma and his friends were converted by the vision of an angel (which nearly killed Alma). His conversion was a total transformation, and when his father died he became the High Priest of the church. When King Mosiah died he gave all the sacred records to Alma the Younger.
The people trusted him so completely that they elected him to be their first Chief Judge. However, after five years in office, he resigned and devoted himself to the ministry.
As judge he lead the armies into battle. As High Priest he led several missionary efforts to reclaim the people, and was a military adviser. More than once God revealed to him the strategies of the Lamanites.

He was finally translated, at which point his son, Helaman, became the High Priest and took the sacred records.

The year he was translated is given, and based on other dates his age can be estimated.

I list his birth in 132, meaning he was born in the Land of Helam. He would have been about 12 when the Lamanites put his people in bondage, causing them to flee from his home and join the Nephites in Zarahemla.
He was translated in 73, making him 63 years old. This is four years after settling in Jershon.
