American Occupation of Haiti (25 sept. 1893 – 22 févr. 1897)
Description:
With the rapid rise of German influence in Haiti [with Germans owning 80% of business in the country], Haiti had fallen into severe debt to the European powers. The United States, fearing European intervention in Haiti, occupied the island and took control of their funds.
They eventually pulled troops out of Haiti upon the Treaty of San Diego, which traded German Influence in Haiti for the Samoan Islands.
