1855: Alexander II takes over and ends the Crimean War (must lose Black Sea). He drafts a new law code and drafts a new constitution. He also grants self-government to rural districts, establishes free press, reforms the army, and emancipates serfs - reform. (1 janv. 1855 – 1 déc. 1881)
