Umayyad Dynasty (1 janv. 661 – 1 janv. 750)
Description:
The Umayyad Dynasty was the first dynasty to rule over the Islamic caliphate. The dynasty soon became one of the largest empires in the world, after having conquered more land and expanding their territory. The Umayyads were unique in history because they allowed other religious people to follow their faiths - such as Christianity and Judaism - as long as they paid a tax called the jizya. (3.2)
