Deng Xiaoping Reforms (1 avr. 1978 – 13 juin 1984)
Description:
In the 1970s, Deng Xiaoping was the most powerful figure in China. He reformed the economy of China by decentralizing economic management and establishing some free enterprise policies to achieve effective and efficient economic growth. On the agricultural front, Deng was largely successful as he emphasized a free market with decision making up to individuals, which allowed agricultural production to increase. Deng is also the one responsible for China’s “one-child policy,” an effort to control the rapid population growth and overcrowding. In foreign affairs, Deng increased and strengthened trade with the West.
