The Long March (16 oct. 1934 – 20 oct. 1935)

Description:

Between 1930- 1934, the Nationalist Party, led by Chiang Kai-Shek, launched five military encirclements against Chinese Communists. The Communists successfully defeated the attacks using guerrilla tactics under the direction of Mao. However, in the fifth encirclement, the Nationalist Party raised its defenses and Mao Zedong was removed as chairman. The Communists responded by attacking the Nationalists at its weakest points, using a line of 85,000 marchers armed with weapons and supplies, abandoning the previous guerrilla tactics. Mao later reinstated his influence, and on October 20, 1935, reunited with the rest of the red army ending the Long March.
