History and future of Sanitation (8 mai 1854 – 21 nov 2025)

Description:

In 1854, John Snow showed that cholera was spread by water.
During the 1849 epidemic, the water of two companies was drawn from the same contaminated region of River Thames, and the death rates among their consumers were similar. John Snow began to experiment by closing off different companies water supplies and observed the death rates of cholera plummet.
1848, Public Health Act instituted, followed by 1866 Sanitary Act.
1860, first septic tank AKA toilet was invented by Louis Moureas and used by communities to remove solid waste.
Sanitation efforts continue to evolve and water treatment facilities such as Brightwater continue to filter our disposed water for many years to come.
