Red River Rebellion (1 janv. 1869 – 1 déc. 1870)
Description:
The 1869-1870 uprising in the Red River Colony was a result of the transfer of Rupert's Land to the new nation of Canada. A corner of the land was occupied by farmers and hunters, many of are Metis, and they feared for their culture and land rights under Canadian control. They mounted a rebellion and declared a provisional government to negotiate terms for entering Confederation. The uprising led to the creation of the province of Manitoba.
