This war was fought between Southern states and Mexico. The reason it began was because southern states wanted to spread slavery, nd after they gained Texas, they wanted to make it a slave state as well. However, Mexico was against slavery, and they wanted to keep that territory slave free. This war ended in the signing of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.
