Texas Revolution (2 oct. 1835 – 21 avr. 1836)
Description:
 American Texas settlers fought the Mexican military led by Mexican dictator Santa Anna in order to achieve independence
Causes:
-Occupation of Texas by Americans
-Texans migrated to Texas to take advantage of its land for slave-based agriculture
-Mexico allowed slavery in Texas, but progressively tried to remove slavery from the territories, sparking resentment among settlers
-The Mexican government was increasingly coming under the total control of Santa Anna, further alienating the Texas population
Historical Impact:
-Texas briefly became an independent nation
-Mexico was humiliated and developed resentment towards Texas
-Texas was later annexed by the US, which would subsequently lead to the Mexican War
-Texas annexation would lead to further conflict among the states over the state of slavery
