Description:
The British American colonies joined forces and successfully fought against the British military in order to achieve independence from British imperial rule.Causes:
-The French and Indian War put heavy strain on the British economy and government, requiring a large source of money to pay off war debts
-The British placed large taxes on the American colonies in order to pay off debts from the French and Indian War
-American colonists felt betrayed, as they fought for the British in the French and Indian but were seemingly being punished for it
Historical Impact:
-The colonies formed the United States
-The US developed a reputation for defeating the strongest military in the world
-Colonies disputed over the direction for the new country
-The War of 1812 would eventually follow
