Troubles in Ireland (2 sept. 1534 – 18 juin 1541)
Description:
Henry VIII was finding it difficult to work with Gerald Fitzgerald (9th Earl). When Gerald died on the 2nd of September, his son Thomas Fitzgerald took over. At this point Gerald was in London after being dismissed. A military presence was required in Ireland, causing a drain on English finance. Two Irish lords invaded Pale in 1539.
