Papyrus in Egypt (2500 bc), it is a plant that one grew abundantly in the Egyptian Delta and elsewhere in the Nile River. It has multiple uses, from as food source, to making rope, sandals, boxes and more, but it is used primarily in writing, especially as a writing surface for documents and texts.
