1930's - First Vaccine for Typhus developed. 
1940's - Powerful pesticide DDT effectively killed body louse. 
1950-1980 - Large epidemics are unseen thanks to improvements in sanitation. 
1990's - Re-emergence of Typhus associated with poor sanitary conditions in some areas. 
recent years - 1 in every 5,000,000 deaths of typhus. Extremely rare.
