Description:

The Second Battle of El Alamein was a great turning point in the Western Desert Campaign of World War 2. It ended the long fight for the Western Desert and was the only great land battle won by the British and Commonwealth forces without direct American participation. It marked the beginning of the end for the Axis in North Africa. It resulted in the Allied Victory. The Allied victory turned the tide in the North African Campaign. It ended Axis's hopes of occupying Egypt, taking control of the Suez Canal, and reaching the Middle Eastern oil fields.
