Description:
As the Growth Manager for South Africa, I formed part of an international team from
a broad variety of strategic countries.
Our role was to examine product and market conditions, competitors, legislative
and societal influences on the growth of Facebook in Sub Saharan Africa, with a
specific focus on South Africa.
Local Insights surfaces market-specific insights that affect growth within smaller
markets where growth impediments have been identified.
• The team developed the relationship between Facebook and manufacturers of
small manufacturers, through chipset manufacturer MediaTek, and through OEMs
MobiCell, and Mobiwire.
• Brought focus to localization as a growth impediment within sub-Saharan Africa,
including local relevance and cultural barriers, and the development of vernacular
Translations.
• Local Insights held two Testathons in South Africa, in Cape Town and
Johannesburg, engaging with the local testing and QA communities to fast-track
bugs, insights and development
• Use of facebook’s measurement tools and work processes (including Workplace,
Scuba, Tasks, etc)
