Often thought to be the father of humanism. Petrarch believed that people could be religious but still think for themselves and enjoy life, culture, music, and dance. Italian poet who wrote the majority of his works on his love for a girl named Laura. Started the wave of humanism individual liberty, opportunity, open society, human rights, and justice for all.
