John Calvins Geneva (12 févr. 1541 – 18 juill. 1549)
Description:
John Calvin led a reform movement in Geneva. The Ecclesiastical Ordinances passed defined four orders of ministerial function: pastors to preach and to administer the sacraments, doctors to instruct believers in the faith, elders to provide discipline, and deacons to care for the poor and needy. The Consistory (ecclesiastical court of elders and ministers) was also created and new hymn books created. Some consider Calvin's Geneva a theocracy.
