"went to a state university on the GI Bill, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. I liked the precision and clarity of chemical engineering, the fact that there is only one answer to a problem and that everything else is incorrect. In fact, I did well, graduating with a 3.0 GPA. But I didn’t feel the same passion for chemical engineering that I had felt for guns. I also took several criminal justice electives and decided that criminal justice was where my focus should be."
