Description:

- The long piece of Toga fabric was cut into rectangle or semicircle. It was then wrapped around the body, always exposing the right arm and usually covering the left arm.
- The Greek himation became the basis of the Toga.
- Different colors would identify your occupation and only the emperor could wear purple.
- The Tunic was worn underneath the Toga.
- Many men were gold rings and bracelets.
- Women wore a Stola, a long, belted robe similar to the Greek Chiton.
- Over the Stola, a wrap called a Palla was worn.
- Roman clothing also distinguished the different social classes.
- Women wore white clothing until they were married. Once married, they wore clothing in a variety of colors.
- Men generally wore white or off-white colored clothing. There were certain colors or markings that showed the status of a man.
- Most Romans wore open sandals made from leather.
- Jewelry was mostly worn by women. Wealthy women wore a wide variety of jewelry including earrings, necklaces, tiaras, and bracelets.
- Men usually only wore rings.
