Description:
Lavoisier defined the term element as a pure substance that cannot be broken down into simpler substances. Throughout his career Lavoisier discovered and identified 23 elements.
He proved that air is a mixture of oxygen and some other gas. Air is at least two gases, one that burns and one that does not.
