Removal (Ontario) (22 juin 1869 – 31 déc. 1879)

Description:

In 1867 Canada becomes a Confederation with Ontario being a Province. On June 22nd 1869 a Statute of Canada is approved concerning «An Act respecting Procedure in Criminal Cases and other matters relating to the Criminal Law». This Statute includes procedures to be followed in case of transfers from the Gaol to the Lunatic Asylum.
A significantly different form therefore must be introduced after 1869. The first available form appears in June 1869 (Pictures).
Starting from 1869, Warrants of Removal + Queries become very prominent. The prison appears an important point of access to the asylum.
