WILLIAM MORRIS (24 mars 1834 – 3 oct. 1896)

Description:

Was a British textile designer, poet, novelist, translator, and socialist activist. Associated and founder with the British Arts and Crafts Movement, he was a major contributor to the revival of traditional British textile arts and methods of production. His literary contributions helped to establish the modern fantasy genre, while he played a significant role in propagating the early socialist movement in Britain.
He named himself as the enemy of the machines and he rejected Technology. All his work was handmade and labour intensive products. He was inspired in the Middle Ages and nature. His design was always focused on making "affordable" and unique pieces with local materials which designs came from his belief.
