Known commonly as “The Buddha”, Siddartha Guatama was an Indian man who attained enlightenment after wandering through the desert and sitting under a tree for a long amount of time. He then became a teacher, educating Indians on how to reach “Nirvana” or enlightenment. His teachings are the main basis for Buddhism. (2.1)
