Description:
Cyrus II established the dynasty in 559 B.C.E and after his death, the empire was passed on to his son Cambyses II. The rule of the Persians was long and fruitful and had many emperors. It is most well known for the tolerance of conquered people. The Persian empire itself was split into satrapies that had 23 satraps ruling over them. The dynasty fell with the death of Darius III, following his defeat at the hands of Alexander of Macedon.
