Battle of Fort Sumter (12 avr. 1861 – 14 avr. 1861)
Description:
Battle of Fort Sumter on April 12–14, 1861,
was the opening engagement of the American Civil War, at the entrance to the harbor of Charleston, South Carolina. Although Fort Sumter held no strategic value to the North because it was unfinished and its guns faced the sea rather than Confederate shore batteries, it held enormous value as a symbol of the Union.
