Martin Luther King Jr. was an American Minister and civil rights activist from 1954 till his death in 1968. He was best known for leading through nonviolence and civil disobedience, inspired by his faith and the nonviolent activist of Gandhi. In 1955 and 1957, he lead the Montgomery Bus Boycott, an unsuccessful struggle against segregation in Albany, Georgia, helped organize the nonviolent protests in 1963 Birmingham, Alabama, and the 1963 March on Washington where he gave his “I have a dream” speech.
