16. Cold War 1945-1990 (15 avr. 1945 – 25 juill. 1990)
Description:
After WWII there was a ‘super power’ conflict between Communist Soviet Union (dominated by Russia) and Capitalist USA. This included a nuclear “arms race” and a “space race”. The USSR and America never directly fought each other but conflicts between US allies and USSR allies erupted all over the world; Cuba, Vietnam, Korea, Nicaragua, Congo, Afghanistan are some examples. The “Iron Curtain” and “Berlin Wall” came down in 1989. The Soviet Union fell apart in 1990. (Many wonder if a new cold war between US and Russia is beginning.)Ajouté au bande de temps:
