October Revolution (24 oct. 1917 – 2 nov 1917)

Description:

Organised by Trotsky and Sverdlov.
-First the Red Guard took control of key points - railways, communication buildings, bridges, power stations, etc.
-25 October: Bolsheviks storm the Winter Palace, arrest any present members of the government.
-Also the day of the Second All-Russian Congress of Soviets. Bolsheviks had most delegates but not a majority; when informed of the coup, the main socialist parties left in protest, so the Bolsheviks gained a majority.
- the SOVNARKOM, or Council of Peoples' Commisars was formed
- instrumental in restructuring the economy
