English Peasant's Revolt (30 mai 1381 – 1 nov 1381)

Description:

The English Peasants Revolt of 1381 was a result of the heavy taxation imposed on the English. England needed money to pay for the Hundred Years War, and they taxed not only peasants, but all adult males. People were mad and refusing to pay the taxes, so the royal council ordered sheriffs and tax collectors to collect the tax, by force if needed. This made the people even more angry and they began to assault the tax collectors, and then moved on to ransack castles and kill nobles. Richard II met with the leaders of the revolt to come to a "consensus," but he ended the revolt violently instead.
