The Conquest of Central America (30 mai 1853 – 22 janv. 1856)

Description:

A war between an army of Democrat backed US filibusters lead by James White against Nicaragua, Honduras, and El Salvador. White and his army of 1 thousand volunteers and a larger number of locals were able to take control of Honduras by October, establishing the American Republic of Honduras.

The United States immediately opened diplomatic relations with White's government, recognizing it as the legitimate one and supplying them with a division of US troops. This sparked declarations of war by El Salvador and Nicaragua to expel the new government in Honduras.

By the end of 1855, the war had been lost and the US had received surrenders from all three nations. In January of the next year, the nations were established as US client states. This in turn sparked the War of Central American Resistance.
