Description:
Age: 37--72T.J. is elected to the society in January, 1780, and is then elected to a counselor position in 1781. Later on March 4th, 1797, a day after he is elected to the vice presidency of the United States, T.J. is elected as the president of the society. He continues as the president of the American Philosophical Society until his resignation on January 20th, 1815.
